Report of the GDR working group on the R-parity violation
This report summarizes the work of the "R-parity violation group" of the
French Research Network (GDR) in Supersymmetry, concerning the physics of
supersymmetric models without conservation of R-parity at HERA, LEP, Tevatron
and LHC and limits on R-parity violating couplings from various processes. The
report includes a discussion of the recent searches at the HERA experiment,
prospects for new experiments, a review of the existing limits, and also
theoretically motivated alternatives to R-parity and a brief discussion on the

Two special calorimeters are foreseen for the instrumentation of the very
forward region of an ILC or CLIC detector; a luminometer (LumiCal) designed to
measure the rate of low angle Bhabha scattering events with a precision better
than 10 at the ILC and 10 at CLIC, and a low polar-angle
calorimeter (BeamCal). The latter will be hit by a large amount of
beamstrahlung remnants. The intensity and the spatial shape of these
depositions will provide a fast luminosity estimate, as well as determination
of beam parameters. The sensors of this calorimeter must be radiation-hard.
Both devices will improve the e.m. hermeticity of the detector in the search
for new particles. Finely segmented and very compact electromagnetic
calorimeters will match these requirements. Due to the high occupancy, fast
front-end electronics will be needed. Monte Carlo studies were performed to
investigate the impact of beam-beam interactions and physics background
processes on the luminosity measurement, and of beamstrahlung on the
performance of BeamCal, as well as to optimise the design of both calorimeters.
Dedicated sensors, front-end and ADC ASICs have been designed for the ILC and
prototypes are available. Prototypes of sensor planes fully assembled with
readout electronics have been studied in electron beams.Comment: 61 pages, 51 figure
Extraction of R = sigma_L/sigma_T from CCFR nu_mu-Fe and nubar_mu-Fe differential cross sections
We report on the extraction of R=sigma_L/sigma_T from CCFR nu_mu-Fe and
nubar_mu-Fe differential cross sections. The CCFR differential cross sections
do not show the deviations from the QCD expectations that are seen in the CDHSW
data at very low and very high x. R as measured in nu_mu scattering is in
agreement with R as measured in muon and electron scattering. All data on R for
Q^2 > 1 GeV^2 are in agreement with a NNLO QCD calculation which includes
target mass effects. We report on the first measurements of R in the low x and
Q^2 < 1 GeV^2 region (where an anomalous large rise in R for nuclear targets

Mineral Industry Research laboratory Report No. 29, "Optimum Transportation Systems to Serve the Mineral Industry North of the Yukon Basin in Alaska", considers the transportation needs of the area north of the Yukon. The only industries that can be established there within the foreseeable future are minerals production, recreation, reindeer husbandry, and trapping. The present paper, M.I. R. L. Report No. 29A was originally written as an appendix to Report No. 29. After some consideration,
if was decided that al though it is. too detai Ied an analysis
of tourism tobe included in M.I.R.L. Report No. 29, it also
is too valuable a contribution to not be published at all. Therefore,
it has been published in its present form as a separate
report. It is recommended that M. I. R. L. Report No. 29 be
consulted, especially Chapter 6
